Why?

For me, the Sisters had been that band who did the glossy videos for Dominion and This Corrosion. I’d loved them. But at school, me and my more rockist friends thought that they were closer to the hair metal we were listening to than to anything else.

At college there were obviously fans – they tended to be Northern and to have gone to public schools. They also liked amphetamines, which I didn’t.

Over time I then discovered the stuff with Jim Steinman (I die hard for Vision Thing, I even like the demo I did of it one day in 2015 when my one year old son slept upstairs), but I would never have described myself as a fan.

My colleague’s wife was, though, and she took me to this.

It wasn’t what I wanted. We were up on one of the side balconies, which was great, and there was all the dry ice you could possibly want, but it was all a bit scrappy – and Eldritch didn’t look cool.

My friend thought otherwise. She was so intent on not missing a minute of this that she wet herself.

High?

Finally getting Vision Thing.

Drinking?

Clearly.

Thinking?

This is actually a major disappointment. I expected better.
